3 wines guaranteed to be crowd pleasers at any summer BBQ.
With Memorial Day rapidly approaching, invitations for weekend BBQ’s will surely fill up your social calendar. If you’re like me, I always make sure to bring a unique gift for the host. This summer, I’m bringing wine from our friends Jake & Dean over at Armstrong Valley Winery in Halifax, PA to make a statement.
Armstrong’s unique wines, some with playful names are sure to intrigue even the most discerning host. Here are my 3 go to’s guaranteed to impress.
- This wine is a real treat. Not quite champagne, it’s a bold new take on a classic chardonnay. It’s semi-sweet flavor is perfect for serving cold during the day or night. Personally, pairing this wine with s’mores by a bonfire is one of my summer pastimes.
- Summer BBQ’s are about one thing- meat. Nothing pairs better with ribeye steak or a plump chicken breast than Armstrong’s Merlot. Oak aging in French barrels truly brings out the fruity flavor of the Merlot grape, making perfect for summer drinking.
- If you’re planning to spend some time by the shore this summer, Armstrong’s Chardonnay is a staple you need in your cooler. This Chardonnay is the perfect complement to an old fashioned seafood boil.
Armstrong Valley Winery opened its doors to the public in May of 2011. The winery sits on 100 acres of historic farmland dating back to 1769; named after its original owner, Robert Armstrong who received the land from William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania.
If you ever find yourself driving through central Pennsylvania, spending a few hours at Armstrong Valley is a must. Make sure to enjoy the scenic view of the blue ridge mountains from the porch of the rustic farmhouse. Jake & Dean are building an incredible business, standing out among the best wineries Pennsylvania has to offer.
